Taros Chemicals Selected to Partner in OPTIBIOCAT Project

Taros’ COO, Alexander Piechot, PhD, stated “OPTIBIOCAT is an exciting venture that involves highly skilled and multidisciplinary partners from 16 organizations in eight EU countries. Taros’ involvement will help to set up a sophisticated compound library utilizing the developed enzymes within this project and, moreso, highlights the strengths and recognition of our deep expertise in using biocatalysts for organic syntheses”.
The biocatalysts will be based on feruloyl acid esterases (“FAE”) and glucuronyl esterases (“GE”) which are expected to be used in the production of phenolic fatty- and sugar- esters with antioxidant activity for the cosmetic industry. FAE and GE will be available within the consortium.
