Abstract:

This article explores the use of flow chemistry in small to medium-sized enterprises, particularly for chemical development and production. Flow chemistry, which involves continuous reactions in a flow system rather than traditional batch processes, offers benefits like reduced space requirements, faster reactions, and lower costs. However, SMEs often face challenges as the necessary components and services for flow chemistry are typically offered separately. Partner companies Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik, Hitec Zang, and Taros Chemicals have developed an integrated solution to simplify this transition. Examples from the flavor and specialty chemicals industries demonstrate how companies can enhance efficiency and meet regulatory requirements through modular, automated flow chemistry systems. This integrated approach promises a profitable investment with flexible production capacities to meet diverse market needs.
